JOB SUMMARY:

The Part Time Center Aide assists the Teacher in planning and carrying out the educational activities of the center. Record observations of children.  Facilitate a small group of children as directed.  Participate and provide input to team meetings.  Interact and be involved with parents as needed.  Eat breakfast, lunch and/or snack with the children to encourage good eating habits and positive mealtime experiences. Carry out cleaning duties as required by the center.  Bilingual staff must be able to appropriately translate and interpret verbal and written communication.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a level of knowledge normally acquired in the course of completing high school or obtaining a GED.  By 09/30/2013 – Head Start Center Aides nationwide in a center-based program must have:

1)      at least a child development associate credential (CDA);

2)      enrolled in a program leading to an associate or bachelors degree; or

3)      enrolled in a child development associate credential program  (CDA) to be completed within 2 years.

Maintain confidentiality for children, families, program and agency.  Possess basic computer skills.  Daily kneeling, stooping, bending and sitting on the floor and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

OTHER:

Wage is $8.75 per hour.  Work hours are generally Monday through Thursday 8:15 AM to 1:15 PM

The Substitute Aide will assist the Teacher as directed.  Record observations of children, eat breakfast, lunch and/or snack with the children to encourage good eating habits and positive mealtime experiences.  The Walthill Substitute Aide will pick up breakfast and lunch from the Walthill School, do morning and afternoon dishes and help with cleaning after the children leave.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a level of knowledge normally acquired in the course of completing high school or obtaining a GED.

OTHER INFORMATION:

The Substitute Aide will work 23.5 hours per week.  Hours are Mon.-Tues.-Thurs. from 7:45AM to 1:30PM.  Wed. from 7:45AM to 2:00PM   Will work continuously from August to December.   The Wage is $7.60 per hour.
